Kindergarten

Davis Started kindergarten on August 16th and had a great time. He came into my room the morning of his first day dressed and ready to go by 7:00 a.m. (school starts at 8:15). He told me that he was a little scared and we talked about some of the things he was going to do that day. He then told me that he felt a little better. I fixed him a bowl of oatmeal with juice and he didn't touch any of it, he was pretty nervous. I was proud of him though because despite being anxious about his first day, he jumped right into things with no problem. He has been talking about kindergarten for a good year now and I knew he was ready to go!!
The kindergartener's lined up with their teacher in the gym and were then walked to class. Davis walking with his classmates to his classroom.

His little nook. He loves his new dinosaur backpack and spiderman lunchbox.

Sitting at the mat with his teacher.

So Davis ended up getting the teacher that I had requested, Mrs. Martin. We were so excited about getting her, I have heard wonderful things about her and she is darling!!

Kate Turns 3

So Kate turned 3 on the 15th of August and of course we celebrated with dinner at Red Robin. She kept telling me all day... "Happy Birthday to me mommy!"

Opening presents after dinner.

Kate has been asking for the last 3 months for a "backpack for cool." She was so excited to finally get her backpack.

Us at Red Robin (somehow this picture is out of place).

Luau Party

Celebrating Kate's 3rd birthday at a Luau BBQ in our backyard!
Blowing out the candles!!

Kate's closest friend Madelaine. We sure are going to miss them when they leave in a year.

We have great friends here in Lincoln, we feel so blessed to have them!

Dad's Beard

So Mark was very proud of this beard. He grew this over the entire 5 weeks that we were in Idaho. I was a little nervous to see him because full on beards are not my thing to say the least. He definitely looked different but I didn't think it was as bad as I thought I would. Colin liked looking at it and touching it.

Lincoln Visit

So my sister Melissa also spent time in Idaho this summer with her children. She drove back to Lincoln with me to visit for a few days and then flew back to Pasadena from Omaha. The 16 hour road trip went surprisingly well. We were expecting the worst considering we were driving with 5 (very tired) children all under the age of 5 and doing it all in one day. We visited the Children's Museum, one of my favorite places in Lincoln, and the kids had a blast.
Hayley, Kate, Cole and Davis in the "Big Chair"!

This was their favorite part of the whole museum, running around with shopping carts full of food across the bridge! We love our cousins and sure do miss them. I am so glad that they were able to come and visit. Now we just need to figure out how to visit them in Cali!

Summer Fun

The kids and I went on a little road trip this summer. We drove to Idaho Falls (in one day) to visit my family. I hadn't been to Idaho in a few years so it was fun to see everyone and so much fun to show Colin off. My dad celebrated his birthday while we were there so we went to our ranch in Island Park to have dinner and play on the lake. This is cousin Hayley and Kate enjoying birthday cupcakes on the pier.

At the ranch with cousins Nicholas, Zach, Davis and Matthew.

I ended up spending about 5 weeks in Idaho so I signed Davis up on a little league team. I wish I could say that he loved it but unfortunately that was not the case. He enjoyed hitting the ball but really disliked standing out on the field in the heat. He said that part was boring! Hopefully next year he will be a little more enthusiastic about it. This is a sweet shot however of the baseball he just hit off the tee in mid-air.

Silly cousins having fun at the bowling alley (Zach, Derek, Hayley and Davis).

Ahh... I miss BYU campus so much. We visited my brother and his family and my sister in Provo for a day and had to stop off at the candy counter at the bookstore. I haven't been back to campus since Mark and I left 5 years ago. We got chocolate covered cinnamon bears (the best) and swedish fish. It was fun to see all of the new construction going on and walk around. Cousins in front of the library...Hayley, Cole, Davis, Kate and Colin.

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day Mark!!
